Sacrament of Baptism
"Go and make disciples of all
nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
Matthew 28:19
Arrangements to have a child baptized should be made by calling the
church office, (440) 236-5095. Ideally this should be done
prior to the birth
of the child. Baptisms are done on the last Sunday of
the month after the
11:00 a.m. Mass.
A Baptism Preparation Class is
required for parents before the child is
baptized. Classes are scheduled quarterly. Please call
the church office
to register.
Sacrament of Confirmation
"But you shall receive power
when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you
shall be my witness in Jerusalem and in all Judea and
Samaria and even to the
end of earth." Acts 1:8
The Bishop administers the
Sacrament of Confirmation each year to
youth in the eighth grade who have completed the
required preparation.
Normally, candidates will have completed eight years of
religious
education. Fr. Ryba should be consulted for special
situations. Any
adult who wishes to be confirmed should call Fr.
Ryba.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
(Confession)
"Jesus came and stood before
them...then he breathed on them and said, "Receive
the Holy Spirit, if you forgive men's sins, they are
forgiven them, if you hold
them bound, they are held bound."
John 20:22,23
Confessions
are heard every Saturday afternoon from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. or
by appointment. A parish penance service is held during Lent
as an
opportunity to celebrate the sacrament in a communal
setting.
Sacrament of Eucharist
"While they were eating, Jesus
took a piece of bread, said a prayer of thanks,
broke it, and gave it to his disciples. 'Take and eat
it', he said 'This is my body'.
Then he took a cup, gave thanks to God, and gave it to
them, and said, 'Drink
it, all of you, this is my blood, which seals God's
covenant, my blood poured out
for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I
will never again drink this wine
until the day I drink the new wine with you in my
Father's kingdom." Matthew 26:26-28
In addition to receiving communion during liturgies, communion is
available for the homebound on the first and third
Friday of the month.
Please call the church office.
Sacrament of Matrimony
"A man shall leave his father
and mother and cling to his wife and the two shall
become as one." Genesis 2:24
A
couple planning to be married should make arrangements with the
church at least SIX months in advance. They should
check available
dates for the church before making any firm
commitments of other
arrangements. Call Fr. Ryba for an appointment.
Sacrament of the Anointing of the
Sick
"Is there anyone sick among you?
Let him call for presbyters of the church, and
let them pray over him and anoint him with oil in the
name of the Lord. This
prayer made in faith, will save the sick person, the
Lord will restore his health,
and, if he has committed any sins, they will be
forgiven." James 5:14,15
The
Sacrament of Anointing should be given to the seriously ill, prior to
surgery, and the elderly. Anointing of the Sick is done
after all Masses
four times a year. Watch the bulletin or call the
church office for dates.
If you would like to receive this sacrament at another
time, please call
the church office.
